Elaine lives in North Carolina with her two children. She writes at the interstice between performance & page poetry, poetry slams & homeschool meetups. Her writing & performance witness the Spirit of the world in stories of chronic mental health & physical “invisible” illness, a keen eye for inner & outer relational dynamics in order to create a world she & all humans can truly Live in.

DeAnn Hill, " Ma Dukes," is 54 Years Young. She has 3 amazing adult children and 6 wonderful grandchildren. Ma Dukes has had a love affair with words for most of her life. Writing started in school but she has, only in the last few years, started putting the kind of passion into it, that words deserve. Ma Dukes has been an out and proud member of the LGBTQI community since 1996, when she, "came out."
